Please meet some key members of our team:
Glen Wheeler, Head Chef of MacNean Restaurant
Having started his career and training under Neven Maguire himself, Glen has been creating delicious dishes at MacNean Restaurant for over 11 years. Glen has also worked in the kitchens of Michelin-starred chefs, Gordon Ramsey and John Campbell. He shares Neven’s passion and enthusiasm for food and enjoys bringing his experience and unique flair to the menu.
Blaithin McCabe, Sommelier at MacNean Restaurant and The Chef’s Table
Blaithin met Neven as a fellow student while studying Catering and Hospitality in Fermanagh College. She began her career at MacNean Restaurant before leaving to travel and gain experience in a number of restaurants. Blaithin returned to MacNean in 2007 and has since undertaken a number of studies with Dublin Wine School and the Guild of Irish Sommeliers. She works closely with MacNean House & Restaurant’s wine consultant, Peter Comisky, to ensure the wine selection expertly complements the MacNean Restaurant and The Chef’s Table dining experiences.
Blaithin received the ‘Best Wine Experience’ award at Hotel and Catering Review’s Gold Medal Awards 2015 on behalf of MacNean Restaurant. The restaurant was honoured for its outstanding wine offer, handpicked by Neven and Blaithin to perfectly complement its seasonal menus.

The wonderful Una, Orlagh and Darren make up our reservations team, ensuring the full ‘MacNean Welcome’ is extended to each guest from initial reservation to final checkout.
Kevin Ashley, Gardener at MacNean House & Restaurant and the Neven Maguire Cookery School
Kevin began growing from a very young age in the garden with his dad. This inspired a life-long love of growing and he took over his own allotment at 11 years of age.
Kevin moved to West Cork in the 90’s and worked in Manna – Organics for ten years before moving to Cavan.
At MacNean House & Restaurant Kevin concentrates on vegetables and micro herbs. He enjoys the challenge of growing the micro herbs, ensuring they germinate at the same time for the same size, consistency and quality.
Classes at the Neven Maguire Cookery School feature tours of Neven’s extensive vegetable and herb collections, all looked after by Kevin.
